The Ambassador’s meeting with Governor Rauner focused on trade and military cooperation between Poland and the State of Illinois. The Governor declared his state’s support for plans to open new Polish trade and investment offices in the United States. Ambassador Wilczek invited Governor Rauner to travel to Poland and visit the Defense Industry Salon in Kielce in September. An important point of the talks was the state of the Polish-American community in Illinois. Perspectives for further cooperation in 2018 were discussed as Poland celebrates the 100th anniversary of regaining independence and Illinois celebrates the 200th anniversary of joining the Union.
During the course of a meeting with Polish-American leaders in the Polish Museum of America organized by the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America as well as at the Parish of Saint Constance, Ambassador Piotr Wilczek spoke about current topics important to Chicago Polonia relating to business, culture and education.
On April 10, Ambassador Piotr Wilczek took part in the unveiling of a memorial plaque dedicated to renowned Chicago architect Benjamin Marshall, who designed the building housing the Polish Consulate General in Chicago.SEE MORE
